What is Jedi Master?
Jedi Master is a one versus all multiplayer deathmatch gametype included with the excellent LucasArts/Raven Software game Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.
The rules are as follows:
- All players spawn without a sabre and without Force powers.
- A single sabre spawns at the centre of the map.
- Grabbing the sabre promotes that player to Jedi Master. Although he loses the ability to use guns, he gains a sabre and full Force powers, more than ample compensation.
- Each kill the Jedi Master makes gains him 1 point.
- The other players must work as a team to bring down the Jedi Master, killing other non-Jedi is strictly against the rules unless there is currently no Jedi Master.
- When the Jedi Master is killed the sabre will fall to the ground, rolling in the direction of his killer (who will receive a point for his troubles).
What's so great about Jedi Master?
There are many reasons to love this gametype, here are a few of them:
Fast paced gameplay
Jedi Master is an extremely fast-paced adrenaline-filled game, as the Jedi you must use every Force power at your disposal to keep moving and stay out of harms way. Hit and run attacks can be very effective and in these situations, the faster the better.
Unique Star Wars feel
Jedi Master is the only JK2 multiplayer gametype that allows you to battle (and hopefully) prevail against hordes of blaster armed foes, if you've ever wanted to recreate the feats of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars Episode I then this is the game for you.
Gameplay depth
As the Jedi Master whatever situation you find yourself in, there will usually be many ways out of it. Do you use brute force, speed, acrobatics, a mind trick or something else? Learning when to use each tactic is half the fun.
Gameplay mix
To succeed at Jedi Master you must be adept at gunplay, have precise sabre control and still be able to manage your Force powers. In addition during each game you will spend time working as part of a team and time as a lone-wolf taking on all-comers.
