This is a fantastic extension! I've always thought that this should be the default behavior for a browser (of course, many would disagree).

This is a *very* useful extension, and I am very happy to have found it today, after years of wishing FF had this feature.
(I never looked that hard before...seek and you will find; certainly in this case, anyway. Thanks again!)

I just installed this extension and it works great. I am using Firefox 3.0.7 with Windows XP. (I have tried other extensions that did not work.)

AMEN! I can finally open a new window and not copy and paste the URL. Thanks so much!

one of the 5 best Firefox Add-Ons thx guys

#187 Resolved Monday, 29th June 2009

Thanks.
I had IE & changed to Firefox (faster than IE). Thought that Firefox would have the New Window clone option, guess not.
I had to download the convert-to-PDF add on as well, which is also available in IE browser.

Resolved.

Thank you for this simple but very usefull plugin.

Hope you can make it compatible with Firefox 3.5 soon !

#189 Pike Wednesday, 1st July 2009

@kalhimeo

If you let me know what issues you're having with the extension in Firefox 3.5 I'll try to fix them, thanks.

#190 Dave Wednesday, 1st July 2009

@kalhimeo and others
I too upgraded to 3.5 and was told by FF that "clone window" (and "Popup allow") would no longer be compatible (and they were greyed out) - even though they were the most recent versions.
But I just unistalled them and then reinstalled them from Pike's site and they both work fine.
Thanks again Pike for such excellent work!

#191 John Tuesday, 7th July 2009

Same exact thing for me Dave. Thanks for suggesting uninstalling then reinstalling.

Is it possible to have Clone Window clone history etc. whenever a new windows/tab is created, and not only when the New Tab command is used.
That is: if I type Ctrl-T, I get a properly cloned tab. But if I ctrl-click a link, the new tab doesn't get history/etc. cloned. (This is on firefox 3.5, I believe that with older versions of this add-on, ctrl-click was working as I wrote).

#193 Pike Saturday, 18th July 2009

@Pippo

Clone Window has never had that feature so I assume another of your extensions was providing it.

#194 diane Saturday, 25th July 2009

This was the only thing I was missing moving off of IE. Thank you!

#195 Joe Thursday, 6th August 2009

This is a very useful plugin. Thanks! I am also finding it working with latest FF 3.5, but only for New Window Command, not for New Tab command, unless I am missing something. Either CTRL-T or File New Tab just opens up an empty New Tab. My environment is Windows 2000 version 5.0. Is anyone finding New Tab command bringing history in FF 3.5?

#196 Pike Thursday, 6th August 2009

@Joe
Have you configured tab cloning in Add-ons->Clone Window->Options?

#197 Joe Friday, 7th August 2009

OK. Thanks Pike. Now it works. Awesome! That was easy.

To clarify for others, go to Tools--> Add Ons--> Extensions--> Options (under the new Clone Window) --> New Tab Selector-->Set to Cloned Tab.

I'd recommend adding those instructions to the download home page or in some note when the Add-on is implemented. Why leave any mystery?

There's a number of approaches that that can be configured with this. Thanks for the flexibility, Pike.

I should say that this one machine I decided to test FF 3.5 with is an old Windows 2000. (I also very much like the On Demand Duplicate Tab Add-on, so I hope that one also becomes available soon in FF 3.5.)

I did not know this one existed. It's very cool and ahead of the curve for FF 3.5

Nice work!!

#198 Pike Monday, 10th August 2009

@Joe

Thanks for the suggestion, I've added instructions for enabling tab cloning to this page.

#199 MegaDon Saturday, 22nd August 2009

Here's another thank you from someone who's been using your add-on for years now. Appreciate the work you put in to continually ensure compatibility.

Cheers

#200 Dusty Tuesday, 25th August 2009

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for making Clone Window compatible with FF 3.5!!! I love this extension, and would be lost without it!
